Evolving Editions is interested in submissions that express your own experiences exploring or examining spirituality – in other words, written or visual works that are inspired by or based upon an individual’s unique spiritual process, journey, questions, struggles, growth, disillusionment, etc.

While these sample submissions are excellent examples of such personal expressions, please do not feel that they are the only types of work we are seeking or that they limit your own expression(s) – we are very interested in your unique contribution!

About the Synagogue Series Photos

These images were made exactly at sunrise one Monday morning on Rosh Chodesh, the new moon. This is a time of great cosmic energy when the Torah is read.

The Sephardic congregation strictly follows the writings of God and the Torah. The tefillin, leather phylacteries, are put on in accordance with the writings in Exodus and Deuteronomy. Wearing the tallit, prayer shawl, with its tzitzit, fringes, is to follow the positive commandment from Numbers.

There is much Kabbalism, Jewish mysticism, surrounding the service and ritual. The drawing down of positive energy is good for the whole world in which we live. It is the responsibility of the Jewish people to make the world a better place for everyone. The hope is that this goodness is contagious and will spread.
